For Physiotherapy beginners in pelvic health, we would like to suggest an educational stream: Start with the entry-level course: The Physical Therapy Approach to Female Urinary Incontinence. This will allow you to begin treating in pelvic health, restricting your practice to one population. Then take; The Physical Therapy Approach for Dyspareunia and Physiotherapy in Perinatality, in any order. These 3 core courses will give you The Canadian Pelvic Health Academy certificate of competency in Pelvic Health. Take more courses with the Academy to develop your expertise even further.
In Quebec, this certificate will be recognized for practice in pelvic health for the treatment of female urinary dysfunction related to the pelvic floor and for the treatment of pelvic pain. Take further courses to treat Ano-Rectal Disorders, Paediatric Disorders and Male Pain and Urinary Disorders.
Elsewhere in Canada, there are no official rules as of yet, but rest assured that this certification from the Canadian Pelvic Health Academy will allow you to treat a variety of patients with pelvic health disorders. Take further courses to treat Ano-Rectal Disorders, Paediatric Disorders and Male Pain and Urinary Disorders.
